We make your day one to remember
Discover the Olympic Park and East London

Few can have missed the fact that the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics are rapidly approaching. Many venues, such as the O2, Greenwich, Excel and Woolwich Barracks are located in east and south east London. The main site lies astride the River Lea, construction work is well under way and what will become the largest urban park to have been created in Britain for over a century is clearly emerging from the organised chaos of Europe`s largest building site! Competition venues, designed by leading architects are also becoming recognisable, similarly new transport infrastructure, essential for ease of access to the Games and to ensure the viability of the area post-Games, is emerging.

For larger groups or those wishing to tour Olympic sites by coach, choose between a full or half day tour. If the latter is preferred, how about a tour to another area of London, or specific attraction such as the Tower of London or Westminster Abbey, for the remainder of the day?

Tours may also be conducted on foot or by public transport. Whilst we cannot enter the construction site, it is possible to walk along the perimeter for a breathtaking view of many of the venues, including the Stadium and Aquatic Centre. The area has a fascinating history, we`ll pass an 18th Century mill, marvel at the scale of Victorian civil engineering and stroll along the banks of London`s second river, the Lea, now a haven for wildlife after cenuries of neglect and industrial contamination. It`s all part and parcel of what promises to be the greenest Olympics ever!

Whatever mode of travel is chosen, I`ll be able to update you on the impressive Olympic legacy and regeneration plans.

This area is very relevant to the National Curriculum, covering topics such as sport, geography and tourism. As a CRB registered guide, I`m happy to discuss specific group interests with teachers and lecturers.
